In order to win the World Cup, the Japanese Football Association decides to hire the mysterious and eccentric coach Jimpachi Ego. Believing that Japan lacks good strikers, Jimpachi creates Blue Lock, a prison where three hundred talented young footballers compete against each other. The winner will be chosen as the national team's striker, while the losers will be banned from playing for the national team forever. One of the participants is Yoichi Isagi, who aspires to become the world's greatest striker and lead Japan to football glory.
